National Interstate is looking for interns to assist in analyzing data, developing statistical models, and creating solutions to improve business performance and decision-making through data science techniques.

Requirements

  • Prior experience using Python/ R, SQL, and Microsoft Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in the analysis of internal and external data and performs statistical modeling to develop actionable insights and recommendations to management regarding business and product performance
  • Develops data mining architectures/models/protocols, statistical reporting and data analysis methodologies to identify trends and extract knowledge from large, high dimensional data sets.
  • Identifies areas to increase efficiency and automation of data analysis processes.
  • May translate business problems/opportunities into technical requirements and data science specifications.
  • Assists in creating solutions that enable enhanced business performance and decision making through a range of data preparation, modeling, analysis and/or visualization techniques.
  • Assists in using artificial intelligence and machine learning to develop processes automation.
  • Participates in researching and applying knowledge of existing and emerging data science principles, theories, and techniques to inform business decisions.

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university or Master’s degree pursuing a degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Analytics, or a related field.
  • Anticipated graduation date ranging from Fall/Winter 2026 to Spring 2027.
  • The role will be expected to work in the Richfield, Ohio office.
  • Develops business knowledge and customer relationships.
  • May estimate the economic impact of operational decisions.
