National Interstate Insurance Company is looking to solve business and technical problems in the insurance industry, specifically in the wheels-based transportation industry, by applying data science and analytics to develop actionable insights and recommendations to management.
Requirements
- Prior experience using Python/ R, SQL, and Microsoft Excel.
- Knowledge of data mining architectures/models/protocols, statistical reporting and data analysis methodologies
- Familiarity with artificial intelligence and machine learning
- Experience with data preparation, modeling, analysis and/or visualization techniques
- Understanding of data science principles, theories, and techniques
- Ability to work with large, high dimensional data sets
- Experience with statistical modeling and analysis
Responsibilities
- Assists in the analysis of internal and external data and performs statistical modeling to develop actionable insights and recommendations to management regarding business and product performance
- Develops data mining architectures/models/protocols, statistical reporting and data analysis methodologies to identify trends and extract knowledge from large, high dimensional data sets.
- Identifies areas to increase efficiency and automation of data analysis processes.
- May translate business problems/opportunities into technical requirements and data science specifications.
- Assists in creating solutions that enable enhanced business performance and decision making through a range of data preparation, modeling, analysis and/or visualization techniques.
- Assists in using artificial intelligence and machine learning to develop processes automation.
- Participates in researching and applying knowledge of existing and emerging data science principles, theories, and techniques to inform business decisions.
Other
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university or Master’s degree pursuing a degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Analytics, or a related field.
- Anticipated graduation date ranging from Fall/Winter 2026 to Spring 2027.
- Ability to develop business knowledge and customer relationships
- Ability to estimate the economic impact of operational decisions
- Ability to perform other duties as assigned
