As a Data Science Intern, you’ll work with one of the nation’s largest and diverse healthcare datasets to help develop AI-driven products.
Requirements
- Strong foundation in Python and libraries such as pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, or TensorFlow/PyTorch.
- Familiarity with SQL and data querying techniques.
- Understanding of statistical analysis, data wrangling, and machine learning fundamentals.
- Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
- Interest in healthcare data and related regulatory concepts (HIPAA, PHI, etc.).
- Previous internship or project experience in data analytics or machine learning.
Responsibilities
- Contribute as part of the Data Science team during exploration, scoping, and requirements discussions.
- Directly engage with Availity’s underlying data; including taking part in the initial data exploration, the data cleaning, and any data transformation and feature engineering processes.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Data Engineering, Product, and Business Analytics) to understand project goals and deliver data solutions.
- Support the development and testing of machine learning and statistical models.
- Participate in the full development process to integrate these AI capabilities into our product as fully functioning features.
- Use data visualization tools to communicate insights to business and technical stakeholders.

- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
