HCSC is looking to improve members' health care access, affordability, and outcomes by using large quantities of data to assess the effectiveness of clinical interventions, improve operating processes, and identify solutions to tailor plans to better meet members' needs.
Requirements
- Familiarity with Python, or other languages commonly used for data science (Preferred)
- Experience with SQL, Hive, or other SQL-like query languages (Preferred)
- Understanding of machine learning, statistical analysis and data visualization practices
- Analytical mindset and excellent problem-solving skills
- Innovation, creativity and out-of-the-box thinking
- Entrepreneurial spirit and initiative to handle business problems
- Strong communication skills
Responsibilities
- Use large quantities of data on a data science project
- Assess the effectiveness of clinical interventions
- Improve the efficiency of operating processes
- Identify and implement solutions to tailor plans to better meet members' needs
- Create a final internship PowerPoint presentation to share with department leadership
- Comply with HIPAA, Diversity Principles, Corporate Integrity, Compliance Program policies and other applicable corporate and departmental policies
- Maintain complete confidentiality of company business
Other
- Currently enrolled in a master’s or Ph.D. program in a quantitative, computational or related field, or has previous healthcare, data science, or technology-related internship experience
- Graduation date between December 2026 and June 2027
- A minimum GPA of 3.0/4.0
- Availability to work 10 weeks during the summer (June – August)
- Unrestricted authorization to work in the United States
