Veritiv's Data Science Intern will be responsible for working on data science projects that drive strategic business objectives, utilizing industry-leading analytical methodologies to manage large datasets, extract meaningful insights, and creatively solve business problems.
Requirements
- 1- 2 years of experience in computer science or data science modeling
- Knowledgeable in Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Recommendation systems, Search Algorithms, Natural Language Processing (NLP), and Generative AI.
- Proficiency in Python and associated analytics and ML libraries.
- Strong knowledge in SQL.
- Proficient utilizing statistical techniques to identify key insights that help solve business problems.
- Knowledge in version control systems (e.g., Git) and cloud platforms (e.g., Azure) is a plus
- Background in presenting complex information to large groups to facilitate strategic business decisions.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop algorithms and models to use against large datasets to create business insights
- Use predictive modeling to increase and optimize customer experience and revenue
- Effectively communicate insights and recommendations to both technical and non-technical leaders and business customers/partners
- Present recommendations in a confident manner to influence execution of recommendation
- Collaborate with multiple internal customers on projects and presentations
- Identify opportunities to streamline process improvements
- Take ownership of a project and then assist other team members to support company initiatives
Other
- Pursuing a Masters in a quantitative field (Computer Science, Math, Statistics, etc.) is strongly preferred.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, work under pressure, and adapt to sudden changes in the work environment.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Excellent verbal, written, people, and diplomacy skills are required.
- Must be highly motivated, flexible and deadline driven.
