The Quality team at CareFirst needs to improve the health and satisfaction of members at scale by tracking clinical quality of care, outcomes, and member experience, and the Quality Data Science Intern will provide support using advanced analytics and statistical modeling.
Requirements
- Proficiency in one or more data visualization platforms (Tableau, Power BI, or similar)
- Statistical programming experience (SAS, R, Python, or similar)
- Basic SQL programming experience
- Experience with healthcare quality measurement or improvement
- Exposure to data analysis
- Ability to use R or Python, SQL, Tableau, and automation tools such as Alteryx
Responsibilities
- Extract, manage, and analyze data for reporting and recommendations
- Develop ad hoc and strategic reporting to support Quality initiatives
- Build pilot projects to explore potential data-driven solutions and products
- Communicate findings and recommendations to Quality leadership
Other
- Education Level: Working towards at-least a bachelors degree from an accredited College or University
- Experience: Junior or Senior Undergraduate student or Graduate student targeting majors in Math, Data Science, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, Business or related field with a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or above
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
