Muon Space is building FireSat, a constellation dedicated to revolutionizing wildfire management and response. The candidate will work closely with the infrared Data Team to develop processing and analytics for the FireSat mission.
Requirements
- Strong programming skills in Python.
- Comfortable with collaborative coding workflows; specifically, git-managed repositories, pull requests, and cloud-based virtual machine environments.
- Experience with data manipulation and analysis using libraries such as pandas, numpy, and scikit-learn.
- Knowledge of data visualization tools (e.g., Matplotlib, ipyleaflet, QGIS).
- Experience working with geospatial data processing concepts and software (geopandas, rasterio, GDAL; projections, remote sensing data)
- Knowledge of cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS).
- Familiarity with machine learning algorithms and frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, etc.).
Responsibilities
- Clean, preprocess, and analyze raw data from the FireSat IR camera and simulation to develop exquisite quality data.
- Assist in building, validating, and deploying analytical and machine learning models to improve data quality and improve derived wildfire products.
- Create visualizations to present findings and insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Work embedded in the IR Data Team alongside scientists, engineers, and software developers to meet the objectives of the FireSat mission.
- Contribute to research initiatives aimed at advancing data science methods used by the IR Data Team.

- Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or a related field.
- Analytical Thinking: Ability to approach problems methodically and solve complex data challenges with creative and effective solutions.

- Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain complex concepts to a diverse audience.
