PayPal is seeking a Fraud Data Scientist to identify, prevent, and mitigate fraudulent activity across its platforms by leveraging advanced data analytics, machine learning, and statistical techniques to detect fraud patterns, design real-time detection systems, and support fraud investigation teams with actionable insights.

- SQL, Python, BigQuery R, Tableau and data visualization proficient with strong analytical and problem skills.

Responsibilities
- Design solutions for sound decisions which balance risk, user experience and financial performance.
- Develop fraud detection strategies using ML models, data mining and analytical deep dives, build new product experiences to support PayPal’s growth while maintaining consistency across financial and reputational risks.
- Build collaborative partnerships between Data Science and the core teams and business partners to enable solution delivery and meet business objectives.

Other
- BS/BA degree in Mathematics Statistics, Operations Research, Engineering, Economics or related quantitative discipline or equivalent with 3+ years’ experience.; Masters degree and 2+ years related professional work experience
- Industry experience in payments, e-commerce, or financial services is advantageous.
- Communication, trust, and patience to build data-driven solutions addressing complex business problems across cross-functional teams.
- Strong business acumen; self starter who thrives in a fast environment.
- Ability to translate data-driven insights into relevant stories and make decisions even if the data and solutions are ambiguous.
