PayPal is seeking a Fraud Data Scientist to identify, prevent, and mitigate fraudulent activity across their platforms, leveraging advanced data analytics, machine learning, and statistical techniques to detect fraud patterns and support fraud investigation teams.
Requirements
- SQL, Python, BigQuery, R, Tableau and data visualization proficiency

Responsibilities
- Design solutions for sound decisions which balance risk, user experience and financial performance
- Develop fraud detection strategies using ML models, data mining and analytical deep dives
- Build new product experiences to support PayPal’s growth while maintaining consistency across financial and reputational risks
- Collaborate with Data Science and core teams to enable solution delivery and meet business objectives
- Create solutions using SQL, Python, BigQuery, R, Tableau and data visualization
- Apply machine learning and statistical concepts to detect fraud patterns
- Support fraud investigation teams with actionable insights
Other
- BS/BA degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Operations Research, Engineering, Economics or related quantitative discipline or equivalent with 3+ years’ experience
- Masters degree and 2+ years related professional work experience
- Industry experience in payments, e-commerce, or financial services is advantageous
- Strong business acumen; self-starter who thrives in a fast environment
- Ability to translate data-driven insights into relevant stories and make decisions
