The CDC Foundation is looking to leverage advanced analytics, statistical techniques, and data visualization strategies to inform public health decision-making and policy development, specifically in the context of infectious disease data.
Requirements
- Proficiency in statistical software such as SAS, R, SQL
- Proficiency in programming languages including Python or R
- Experience with data visualization tools like Tableau, Power BI, ArcGIS
- Knowledge of public health datasets and epidemiologic concepts
- Experience with data manipulation and analysis tools such as SQL, Pandas, NumPy
- Professional certifications in data science or public health analytics (preferred)
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and enhance data analysis and visualization tools to support public health decision-making
- Design, author, and update a comprehensive data visualization plan emphasizing clarity, consistency, and accessibility
- Analyze diverse datasets related to infectious diseases to identify trends, patterns, and correlations
- Apply statistical methods to extract insights and develop predictive models to forecast disease patterns and assess risks
- Optimize algorithms for accuracy and performance in predictive analytics
- Create compelling visualizations and reports to communicate findings to stakeholders and decision-makers
- Implement and maintain data security measures to protect sensitive information and ensure regulatory compliance
Other
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Data Science, Statistics, Epidemiology, or related field
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience
- Ability to interpret complex datasets and communicate insights effectively
- Experience working remotely and collaborating with diverse teams
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
