Bowhead / UIC Technical Services is seeking a Data Scientist to support the Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD), E Department, by applying advanced data analysis, predictive modeling, and machine learning techniques to derive meaningful insights from complex and diverse data sets to address national security and defense challenges.
Requirements
- Strong analytical skills in database management, data warehousing, and relational database systems are essential.
- Experience with creating reports and dashboards, and proficiency in SQL querying are required.
- Knowledge of virtual machine environments and artificial intelligence is highly preferred.
- Candidates should demonstrate coding and software development capabilities, particularly in languages such as Python, R, or similar.
- A solid understanding of mathematical reasoning, data taxonomy, and metadata management is necessary.
- Experience in data science, statistical analysis, or related disciplines.
Responsibilities
- Applying advanced mathematical, statistical, and machine learning techniques to uncover patterns and insights within recorded data.
- Planning, designing, creating, testing, and documenting new and existing software components to deliver value to stakeholders.
- Building and maintaining tools for data testing and validation.
- Analyzing high-volume, high-velocity data that includes numbers, symbols, text, sound, and images.
- Developing predictive, real-time models that support decision-making and operational automation.
- Presenting data insights in innovative and accessible formats is essential to facilitate understanding across technical and non-technical audiences.
- Identifying, validating, and exploiting internal and external data sources generated from various processes.

- Onsite presence at either the Bowhead office or Navy installation, emphasizing collaboration within a dynamic and mission-critical environment.
- Effective communication skills, both oral and written, are crucial for engaging with senior government clients and translating technical findings into understandable insights.
- Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance at the Secret level.
