Apple is looking to quantify algorithm performance and relate it to user experience by analyzing real customer data and feedback to drive improvements in their products and machine learning models.

Requirements

  • Use Python to translate mathematical equations and concepts to code to develop metrics and loss functions for computer vision algorithms and machine learning models that accurately capture the end customer use case.
  • Use Python and Git to create an automation system to run evaluation metrics on real world data.
  • Use Python to create a clear data pipeline, from cleaning data for ingestion, running data through automation, and storing output results in a central location for analysis.
  • Use Python, REST APIs, PostgreSQL, MongoDB to establish SQL/non-SQL database and cloud base storage for datasets and evaluation results.
  • Use Python and Tableau to run statistical analysis to identify failure patterns in large-scale replay results of computer vision algorithms and/or machine learning models.
  • Use Python and SQL to visualize failures from computer vision algorithms and/or machine learning models on front end dashboards.
  • Perform manual failure analysis on computer vision algorithms and machine learning models to triage issues.

Responsibilities

  • Build evaluations and metrics to quantify algorithm performance and relate them to user experience, deep-diving failure analysis, and pattern mining.
  • Produce and present meaningful data insights with visualizations to higher-ups and across various involved teams.
  • Use in-depth statistical analysis and large data analysis to drive actionable insights for customers.
  • Evaluate potential features based on customer requirements to make informed decisions for internal improvements.
  • Develop interpretation methods for machine learning models.
  • Provide quantitative analysis of real-world trends and real customer data to understand current model and algorithm performance.
  • Work with Python, testing expertise, knowledge of the software development cycle to understand the algorithms that Apple’s computer vision engineers developed.

Other

  • Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Business Analytics, Data Science or related field.
  • 40 hours/week.
  • Apple is an equal opportunity employer that is committed to inclusion and diversity.
