i3 is searching for a Data Scientist to support the Missile Defense Agency Information Management and Software Services (AIMSS) effort. The mission is to design and implement a Missile Defense System with multiple layers of protection. The Data Scientist serves as data SME when designing, developing or optimizing data driven solutions and applications. Helps the organization make informed choices based on empirical evidence.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in Python, R, and SQL for data manipulation, analysis, and modeling.
  • Proficient in Agile Development and Git Operations.
  • Hands-on experience with machine learning frameworks (e.g., Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch).
  • Familiarity with cloud-based platforms (AWS, Azure, or similar) and big data tools (e.g., Spark, Hadoop).
  • Experience with data visualization tools like Power BI, Tableau, or R Shiny.
  • Demonstrated experience applying complex datasets and deploying models in operational environments.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and integrate relevant internal and third-party data sources to support analytical objectives.
  • Coordinate analytic efforts across diverse structured and unstructured data sources, employing programming (e.g., Python, SQL) to clean, transform, and prepare data for advanced analysis.
  • Partner with Data Engineers to establish scalable data pipelines and cloud-native architectures (e.g., Databricks, Snowflake, AWS).
  • Conduct exploratory data analysis (EDA) and apply statistical techniques grounded in the scientific method to identify trends, anomalies, and validate hypotheses.
  • Apply statistical techniques (regression, hypothesis testing, clustering, time series analysis) to uncover trends and inform hypotheses.
  • Develop and implement predictive and prescriptive models using supervised and unsupervised learning methods.
  • Apply machine learning algorithms, natural language processing (NLP), and optimization techniques to complex mission problems.

Other

  • Active Secret clearance required. Must be able to maintain the security clearance required for this position.
  • Must reside within a 50-mile radius of Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville AL or be willing to relocate prior to start date.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Ability to reliably commute to the office as business needs dictate.
  • Exceptional judgment capabilities and relationship management skills.
