Bowhead / UIC Technical Services is seeking a Data Scientist to support the Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD), E Department. The role aims to leverage data analysis, predictive modeling, and machine learning to extract actionable insights from diverse datasets, thereby enhancing decision-making, improving operational efficiency, and supporting strategic initiatives.
Requirements
- Proven expertise in data trend analysis, database management, and development is essential.
- Candidates should demonstrate familiarity with relational database management systems, data warehousing, and the creation of reports and dashboards.
- Experience with virtual machines, artificial intelligence, and coding—particularly in SQL—is highly preferred.
- Strong mathematical reasoning skills
- Proficiency with analytical tools and evaluation techniques are also required.
- Intermediate to advanced skills in the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) are necessary to facilitate effective reporting and presentation of insights.
Responsibilities
- Apply advanced mathematical, statistical, and machine learning techniques to analyze complex data sets, identifying meaningful patterns and trends.
- Design, develop, modify, verify, and document software components to deliver value to stakeholders effectively.
- Create and implement tools for testing and validating data models and algorithms.
- Analyze large volumes of data characterized by high velocity and variety, including numbers, symbols, text, sound, and images.
- Develop predictive, real-time, model-based insights to support decision-making, automation, and operational improvements.
- Present data insights and findings in clear, innovative formats suitable for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Identify, validate, and utilize internal and external data sources generated from various processes to maximize data utility.
Other
- Bachelor's Degree in physics, data science, or a related field, complemented by a minimum of 5-8 years of relevant experience.
- Effective communication abilities in both oral and written formats
- Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance at the Secret level
- US citizenship being a mandatory requirement.
- Onsite engagement at either the Bowhead office or Navy installation
