Aperio Global is seeking a Data Scientist to support the DHS in determining key questions, answering them with data, developing predictive models, and improving data quality and product offerings using machine learning techniques.
Requirements
- Over five years of experience with deep knowledge of ML frameworks.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, SQL, SAS, and Jupyter Notebooks.
- Experience with data visualization tools like Tableau and Power BI.
- Experience with machine learning, including model development, evaluation, and optimization using tools and packages such as sklearn, NumPy, PyTorch, or TensorFlow.
- Knowledge of machine learning techniques, including feature extraction, statistical approaches, linear and non-linear classifiers, and deep learning.
- Understanding of big data, ETL pipelines, and data warehouses.
- Deep knowledge of cloud technologies, particularly AWS SageMaker.
Responsibilities
- Find patterns and trends in datasets to uncover insights.
- Create algorithms and data models to forecast outcomes.
- Use machine learning techniques to improve the quality of data or product offerings.
- Deploy data tools such as Python, R, SAS, or SQL in data analysis.
- Research AI and ML use cases to assess the viability of ML for achieving tangible business outcomes.
- Work closely with data engineers to advise on building data lakes, warehouses, and Lakehouses.
- Develop and tune machine learning models.

- Communicate recommendations to other teams and senior staff.
- Stay on top of innovations in the data science field.
- Research AI and ML use cases catered to different business domains and define success criteria in consultation with the ML architect.
- Perform data labeling activities to provide context to raw data and support the development of machine learning models.
