General Motors Audit Services is seeking a Data Scientist to enhance audit processes, assess risk, and deliver actionable insights through advanced analytics, machine learning, and predictive modeling.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in Python, R, and SQL for data analysis, modeling, and automation.
  • Solid understanding of predictive modeling, machine learning algorithms, and statistical techniques.
  • Familiarity with risk management frameworks, internal controls, and audit methodologies (e.g., COSO, SOX, or similar).
  • Experience working with structured and unstructured data from diverse sources.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and implement predictive models and machine learning algorithms to identify risk indicators and support audit selection and scoping.
  • Develop risk assessment frameworks and anomaly detection tools to support internal audit objectives.
  • Extract, clean, transform, and analyze complex datasets using SQL, Python, and R.
  • Deliver high-quality visualizations and reports that communicate analytical findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Provide technical expertise in data science and audit analytics to support strategic audit planning and ongoing risk assessments.
  • Stay current with industry trends and advancements in data science, audit technology, and regulatory requirements

  • This position allows flexibility utilizing our hybrid-work appropriately model where team members can work at the Detroit Headquarters requiring the team member to be onsite to support project needs.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in a data science, analytics, or audit-related role.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain complex concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
