PSEG is looking to transform raw data into actionable insights that drive strategic decisions across the organization, specifically within Electric Operations (Transmission, Substation and Distribution) to predict asset failure, show degradation of asset performance, and define risks associated with asset failure. The goal is to create "what if" scenarios to recommend asset management replacement plans that impact reliability by projecting asset aging and the impacts of deferring or accelerating maintenance or capital spend.

Requirements

  • 2-5 years' knowledge and experience with data mining techniques, data modeling, statistical analysis, and algorithms.
  • 2-5 years' experience (can apply to school projects/assignments) using query languages (SQL) and developing and maintaining ETL workflows using SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)
  • 2-5 years' experience (can apply to school projects/assignments) leveraging AWS services to deploy scalable data pipelines and analytics solutions
  • 2-5 years' experience (can apply to school projects/assignments) in Python coding.
  • Must be detailed oriented and have experience working with large data sets.
  • Knowledge of OSI PI products (OSI PI Architecture, PI AF hierarchy and analytics)
  • Experience with visualization tools like PowerBI/Tableau.

Responsibilities

  • Collect, summarize, and analyze various operational, non-operational data for electric inside and outside plant.
  • Identify valuable data sources and optimize data pipelines to ensure data quality, integrity, and security.
  • Transform data to uncover patterns, develop trends, and define analytics solutions that support decisions related to asset design, maintenance, and replacement strategies
  • Deliver insights that contribute to electric system reliability improvements by analyzing operational and non-operational data.
  • Apply statistical analysis and data mining techniques to validate assumptions and build scenarios.
  • Interpreting the data to discover solutions, identify opportunities and support decision making.
  • Effectively communicate results and insights to subject matter experts and cross-functional teams.

Other

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or related field.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to communicate highly technical concepts in a clear, succinct, and relevant way to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Results oriented, data driven, and self-starter.
  • Department of Energy’s regulation 10 CFR 810 is required.
