The company is seeking to solve the problem of ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and traceability of metadata and data lineage across diverse data environments within the Alation Data Platform.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in data stewardship, metadata management, or data governance.
- Hands-on experience with Alation or similar metadata management tools.
- Strong SQL skills (MSSQL, Oracle, or similar platforms).
- Experience with data lineage tracing, ETL processes, and enterprise data integration concepts.
- Solid understanding of relational database structures, schemas, and data models.
- Familiarity with Informatica PowerCenter, Talend, Tableau, Power BI, Hive, or DB2.
- Experience developing or supporting metadata-driven analytics or data governance dashboards.
Responsibilities
- Manage data lineage documentation from ingestion through transformation and consumption.
- Improve training documentation to assist Alation users with creating/maintaining lineage
- Trace data flows across multiple systems, including databases, ETL tools, scripting tools, data warehouses, and analytics platforms.
- Collaborate with business data stewards to map Critical Data Elements (CDEs) — from the column level—to their authoritative sources.
- Document technical relationships between data sources, transformations, and outputs.
- Write and optimize SQL queries to support Alation Analytics dashboards and reports, lineage validation, and data usage metrics.
- Provide insights on data lineage completeness, quality, and catalog adoption trends.
