Humana Inc. is seeking to improve health outcomes and enhance quality of life for diverse populations by leveraging technology and data-driven solutions, and is looking for a Principal Data Scientist to guide strategic decision-making and lead the development of reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems
Requirements
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R
- Extensive experience with NLP libraries (e.g., NLTK, spaCy, Hugging Face Transformers) and frameworks like TensorFlow or PyTorch
- Knowledge of cloud-based AI platforms (AWS, Azure) and data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI) is preferred
- Experience in developing and deploying enterprise-grade AI models and solutions
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to process and analyze large textual datasets
- Relevant certifications such as TensorFlow Developer Certificate or NLP Specialization are desirable
- Experience with computer vision, generative models, and large language models
Responsibilities
- Design and develop AI solutions utilizing Python, computer vision, generative models, and large language models to address healthcare challenges
- Ensure responsible AI development aligned with Humana’s ethical standards, emphasizing transparency, safety, and real-world impact
- Build autonomous AI agents using frameworks like LangChain, LangGraph, AutoGen, and CrewAI to support reasoning and decision-making processes in healthcare contexts
- Embed AI capabilities into Humana’s existing systems and workflows, collaborating closely with business teams to understand needs and co-create solutions
- Design scalable, reliable, and compliant AI solutions that meet enterprise requirements
- Work with engineering and product teams to implement best practices for deploying and maintaining AI models in production environments
- Apply advanced machine learning, NLP, and generative AI techniques to solve complex business problems
Other
- Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Data Science, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in data science, with at least 5 years focused on AI and NLP applications
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills for engaging diverse audiences
- Leadership experience in mentoring junior staff and managing cross-functional projects
- Research contributions or publications in AI, NLP, or machine learning are a plus
