Bowhead / UIC Technical Services is seeking a Data Scientist to support the Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD), E Department, to analyze large volumes of diverse data, develop innovative insights, and create tools that facilitate data-driven decision-making processes to support national defense projects
Requirements
- Demonstrated expertise in database management, data warehousing, and relational database systems
- Experience with creating reports and dashboards
- Proficiency in SQL
- Knowledge of virtual machine environments and AI technologies
- Solid foundation in mathematical reasoning, coding, and software development
- Experience with data trend analysis, predictive modeling, and machine learning techniques
- Familiarity with data science tools and technologies
Responsibilities
- Applying advanced mathematical, statistical, and machine learning techniques to uncover meaningful patterns within recorded data
- Designing, developing, and refining software components that deliver value to stakeholders
- Building tools for data testing and validation
- Analyzing high-volume, high-velocity, and high-variety data sources, including numbers, symbols, text, sound, and images, to generate real-time, predictive insights
- Developing models that enable automated decision-making and operational efficiencies
- Presenting complex data insights in an understandable manner to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Identifying, validating, and exploiting internal and external data sets, managing data in all its forms and structures
Other
- Bachelor's Degree in physics, computer science, or a related field
- Minimum of 5-8 years of relevant experience in data science, analytics, or a similar domain
- Security clearance at the Secret level
- U.S. citizenship
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
