The Office of Management Analysis and Planning (OMAP) at the New York City Police Department (NYPD) is seeking a Data Scientist to design and develop data science services that solve Department challenges, harmonize analysis and research to advise leadership on policy, and improve Department decision making.
Requirements
- experience with Python and machine learning
- ability to work with both structured and unstructured datasets (e.g. text, geospatial, network data)
- ability to write clean code to integrate data science services with business intelligence tools
- Experience designing and developing full-stack software applications using Python, SQL, and/or R.
- Experience designing and developing statistical and machine learning models (e.g. scikit-learn, statsmodels, PyTorch).
- Ability to design and develop metrics to measure business objectives and improve the operational effectiveness of the Department.
- Ability to design and develop data visualizations and business communication for department leadership to improve organizational decision making (e.g. Pandas, Numpy, Matplotlib).
