Tanaq Technical Services (TTS) is seeking a Data Scientist (AI/ML focus) to support the Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Office of the Chief Information Officer (HUD OCIO) by analyzing, modeling, and simulating data for AI/ML proofs of concept and pilots, and developing predictive models, simulations, and decision-theory frameworks to enhance system functionality, operational efficiency, and mission alignment.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in data science, statistical modeling, or AI/ML projects.
- Experience developing predictive models, simulations, and decision-support tools.
- Strong Data processing, cleaning, transformation, and engineering capabilities.
- Federal-scale datasets, such as SQL, NoSQL, Spark, Kafka, or cloud-native pipelines.
- Python (pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, TensorFlow/PyTorch)
- Statistical modeling, simulation, and decision theory
- Version control: Git/GitHub/GitLab
Responsibilities
- Develop statistical models, machine learning algorithms, and simulations using Python.
- Analyze HUD datasets, implement data preprocessing, and assess data quality for AI workflows.
- Collaborate with HCD/UX and front-end teams to ensure models are operationalized effectively.
- Evaluate model performance, validate results, and iterate for improvement.
- Support AI governance by documenting models, decisions, assumptions, and ethical safeguards.
- Maintain version-controlled code and reproducible workflows for HUD audit and compliance.

- Candidates must reside in the United States.
- Ability to pass required Federal background screening and obtain and maintain both government clearance and customer approval.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.
- Candidates must reside in or within daily commuting distance of Washington, D.C.
- Must be willing and able to travel an estimated 25% of time within the U.S.
