Praescient Analytics is seeking a Data Scientist to support the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Office of Professional Responsibility (OPR) in proactive threat mitigation and monitoring services. This role is integral to protecting senior leaders, personnel, and facilities from emerging threats by leveraging advanced analytics, machine learning, and data automation to provide actionable intelligence.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in Python, R, or similar scripting languages for automation and analytics.
  • Experience with machine learning libraries (TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn) and NLP techniques.
  • Strong background in data cleaning, normalization, and pipeline optimization.
  • Familiarity with open-source intelligence (OSINT), social media analytics, and federal law enforcement threat monitoring requirements.
  • Familiarity with deep web/dark web monitoring tools and digital forensics techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain robust, scalable data pipelines to aggregate and normalize open-source, deep web, and dark web data, reducing analyst workload and ensuring timely access to critical information.
  • Build and deploy predictive models for threat detection, including violent intent indicators, protest escalation, and doxxing risks.
  • Design scripts to perform sentiment analysis, geolocation correlation, and anomaly detection across social media and open-source datasets.
  • Leverage AI-enabled natural language processing (NLP) and machine learning to detect and flag threats in real time, delivering anticipatory intelligence to ICE stakeholders.
  • Generate daily, weekly, and monthly analytical reports, including statistical breakdowns, trend analysis, and visual dashboards to inform decision-makers.
  • Work closely with law enforcement and intelligence community partners while adhering to DHS privacy, data security, and controlled unclassified information (CUI) requirements.

  • US Citizen
  • Minimum of 5+ years in AI/ML, data science, or data engineering supporting DHS, DOJ, DoD, or IC missions.
  • Ability to translate complex data into actionable threat intelligence and predictive insights.
  • Experience producing intelligence reports for senior government stakeholders.
