Argo Group International Holdings, Inc. and American National are looking to quantify the competitive performance of operations, evaluate potential operational changes, and design new approaches and methodologies by analyzing operational, economic, management, accounting, and other organizational data.
Requirements
- Proficiency in emerging technologies, programming languages suitable for database access, scripting, and statistical analysis (i.e., SQL, SAS, Python, R) and new modeling techniques.
- Understanding of software development best practices including source control, coding standards and testing framework.
- Experience working with large, complex datasets using big data technologies and script.
- Experience formulating, approaching, analyzing, and solving analytical problems using a quantitative, scientific approach.
- Solid knowledge and understanding managing data to scale using data summarization, query and analysis software and tools.
- Experience in insurance related application preferred.
Responsibilities
- Designs and participates in the end-to-end model process of analyzing large structured, semi structured, and unstructured datasets, developing models, implementing solutions and monitoring outcomes.
- Incorporates finding and provides industry and competitor insights as part of model development and enhancement.
- Combine business acumen with mathematical capabilities to develop and fine tune state of the art across a variety of insurance related application with some guidance.
- Works closely with business partners and stakeholders to identify critical questions and build hypotheses; develop problem definition, analytical approach, and determines best approach to address business issues.
- Translates technical analyses and results into simple visuals and actionable items for business partners.
- Participates in the selection of research tools and technologies, design of a common research process, and brainstorming new opportunities and methodologies.
- Identifies, leverages, develops, and demonstrates expertise in emerging technologies, open-source tools, and harnesses advance machine learning techniques (e.g., GBM, Decision tree, Random Forest, NLP).
