Pinterest is seeking a Data Scientist to introduce greater scientific rigor into marketing measurement and optimization processes to shape Pinterest's revenue growth and marketing strategy. The role will influence strategic decisions, identify investment opportunities for growth, understand revenue behavior, and define key metrics to expand and sustain the advertiser base.
Requirements
- Hands-on experience building marketing measurement solutions to quantify the impact of marketing tactics and investments
- Strong background in statistics and quantitative analysis, with expertise in advanced statistical techniques
- Proficiency in at least one scripting language (Python or R) and SQL/Hive for data querying and analysis
- Background in experimentation and causal inference methodologies
- Experience leading key technical projects and initiatives
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and continuously improve advanced marketing measurement frameworks and statistical models to evaluate marketing ROI
- Build and deploy models such as propensity, forecasting, and lifetime value (LTV) to optimize marketing strategies and audience targeting
- Develop and refine attribution methodologies to assess the effectiveness of marketing initiatives across multiple channels
- Assess incremental impacts of marketing activities using causal inference techniques and testing frameworks
- Conduct strategic analyses to address key business questions, including marketing ROI improvement, budget allocation, and market expansion opportunities
- Design, maintain, and promote dashboards and automated reporting tools to enable data-driven decision-making
- Build and optimize ETL data pipelines to automate reporting, facilitate deep dive analyses, and support feature engineering for models
Other
- 5+ years of combined post-graduate academic and industry experience applying scientific methods to solve real-world problems
- Master’s degree in a quantitative field such as mathematics, statistics, computer science, or engineering
- Excellent business and product sense with the ability to translate vague questions into well-defined analyses and success metrics
- Strong communication skills to effectively present findings and strategic recommendations to stakeholders and leadership
