E Source is looking to drive data science innovation by developing models for customer energy usage, detecting grid-impacting end uses, and estimating program impacts for integration with their production software serving utility clients.
Requirements
- Proficiency in R or Python (fluency in both preferred)
- Experience applying data science methods to proof-of-concept and operational support projects in a professional environment
- Familiarity with cloud environments, specifically AWS and Azure
- Strong understanding of a variety of statistical and machine learning model families, including: Generalized linear models, Time series approaches, Penalized regression models, Tree-based ensemble models, Neural network models, Natural language processing techniques
- Experience using Databricks, particularly with PySpark
- Familiarity with customer and distribution grid data models
Responsibilities
- Contributing to translating a scope of work into technical tasks for project team assignments using Jira issues
- Data exploration and evaluating sufficiency to perform data science tasks
- Creatively distilling insights from data exploration and modeling which make our work products meaningful and actionable for our clients.
- Developing statistical and machine learning models and validating model performance
- Collaborating on the development and maintenance of data science pipelines for repeated execution
- Code repository management and code reviews
- Identifying data sources that can facilitate data science solutions to utility industry problems
Other
- Master’s degree or PhD in a technical field such as statistics, economics, mathematics, or electrical engineering
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Communicating with clients (internal or external) throughout the data science project lifecycle
- The ability to simplify complex analyses into understandable concepts that are applicable to management and operations staff is highly desired.
- Professional experience in the utility or energy sector
- This role will be 100% remote, with infrequent travel (generally 1-2 times per year).
