Netflix is looking for a senior data scientist to analyze and develop metrics for the relationship between promotional media and member engagement in new content experiences like Live, Games, and Mobile. The goal is to optimize promotional assets and understand their impact in these emerging domains.
Requirements
- Expertise in statistical methods, notably regression analysis, forecasting, causal inference, and experimentation
- Highly proficient programming in SQL and Python / R
- Comfortable and effective in ambiguous problem spaces; ability to own and drive projects with minimal oversight and process
Responsibilities
- Conduct exploratory analysis to build the conceptual frameworks for how we should think about these new content types / formats and capture how members are currently interacting with them and how they may do so in the future
- Execute and analyze experiments and/or develop causal inference and machine learning models to identify key drivers of positive member outcomes that can be attributed to promotional assets
- Develop metrics and models to guide partners on promotional asset creation and deployment in the Emerging Experiences area
- Coordinate and communicate often and effectively with both stakeholders and fellow data scientists and analytics engineers to build shared knowledge and execute in a fast-paced and fluid environment
- Serve as a key thought partner for leaders in the space

- Partner with a diverse range of cross-functional business partners to understand Emerging Experiences at Netflix and what the role of promotional media is (or should be) in those domains
- Exceptional written and oral communication with technical and non-technical audiences
- Enthusiasm about and compatibility with Netflix culture
- Masters or Ph.D. degree in a quantitative or computational field such as statistics, computer science, mathematics, economics, political science, engineering, physics, etc.
- 5+ years work experience in relevant data science roles
