Making Science is looking to solve the business problem of quantifying the effectiveness of a client's marketing investments by building, maintaining, and validating statistical marketing mix models.

Requirements

  • building and interpreting statistical or econometric models
  • Strong proficiency in Python or R for data analysis and modeling.
  • Experience with SQL for data extraction and manipulation.
  • Familiarity with MMMs such as Google Meridian or other providers is a plus.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Collect, clean, and integrate large, disparate datasets from various sources, including advertising spend, sales, pricing, and external factors (e.g., seasonality, competitor activity).
  • Design and build custom Marketing Mix Models using advanced statistical techniques like multivariate regression and Bayesian modeling to isolate the incremental impact of each marketing channel.
  • Conduct rigorous model validation through back-testing and cross-validation to ensure accuracy and robustness.
  • Automate data workflows and model pipelines using programming languages like Python (NumPy, Pandas, Scikit-learn) or R.
  • Analyze and have a deep understanding of media spend (investment and return) to assess and measure the performance of client marketing campaigns.
  • Stay current with the latest trends in marketing measurement, contributing to the development of new modeling techniques and frameworks.
  • Work closely with the client-facing team to provide technical support and ensure the model's outputs are well-understood. Ensure model architecture is aligned with core business questions and designed to output metrics that directly address client problematics.
