Xcel Energy is looking for smart, innovative interns with data visualization, data management, and data governance skills to join their team and develop solutions leveraging various tools and techniques to present data in meaningful ways and implement scalable solutions in data-driven environments.

Requirements

• Data Management skills: ability to access, manage, transfer, integrate and analyze complex datasets
• Experience assessing data quality and applying data governance principles
• Experience or interest in data collection, data mapping, processing, cleaning, validation, and documentation
• Experience working with large data sets, especially leveraging Databricks and Spark
• Experience with data visualization tools/languages such as Posit, Power BI, SAP Cloud Analytics etc.
• Experience with DAX (Data Analysis Expressions)
• Exposure and understanding of foundational statistics concepts and algorithms: linear/logistic regression, random forest, boosting, etc.

Responsibilities

• Create engaging and informative dashboards and reports from datasets
• Deal with complex, multi-variable problems using innovative analytics
• Access, manage, transfer, integrate and analyze complex datasets
• Assess data quality and apply data governance principles
• Collect, map, process, clean, validate, and document data
• Present key findings and storytelling using data visualizations
• Create engaging and informative dashboards and reports from data

Other

• Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s program for Business/Data Analytics, Mathematics/Computer Science, Statistics, or similar program that has data and process skills
• Current Student, Freshman and higher
• Attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and willingness to learn new techniques and technologies
• Ability to work with minimal direction
• Passion for learning (new problem domains, algorithms, tools etc)
