American Electric Power (AEP) is looking for a SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA) to optimize database performance and support application teams in real-time applications, SCADA, and transmission/distribution systems.
Requirements
- Proven experience in installation, configuration, and management of SQL Server (including multiple instances on a single server/VM).
- Expertise in performance tuning, index management, and SQL query optimization.
- Strong skills in TSQL and PowerShell.
- Working experience with MongoDB and PostgreSQL.
- Background in utility space, real-time applications, SCADA, and transmission/distribution systems is an added advantage.
- Utilize tools like shell scripting, Python, or Perl to automate processes.
- Develop scripts for monitoring, maintenance, and automation tasks.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and maintain database health, performance, and security.
- Implement and manage database backup and recovery strategies.
- Ensure high availability and disaster recovery readiness.
- Manage user access and roles, ensuring compliance with data governance and security policies.
- Perform audits and vulnerability assessments to maintain security standards.
- Analyze and optimize SQL queries and overall database performance.
- Identify and resolve bottlenecks in database systems.
Other
- Associates Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications or related Technical field or higher from an accredited college/university or high school diploma and two years related military or electric utility technical experience.
- Six (6) years EMS/SCADA experience with associate's degree or eight (8) years of experience with a high school diploma.
- Individuals with a bachelor's degree and 4 years of EMS/SCADA experience may be considered for entry into the organization at this level.
