Supporting the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) by developing and maintaining Database Management Systems (DBMS) applications for the Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Land Border Integration (LBI) Integrated Traveler Initiative 2.1 (ITI2.1) team
Requirements
- Proficient understanding of Microsoft SQL Server 2008 or above
- Basic understanding of Microsoft SQL configuration
- Experience with SQL Server and Oracle RDBMS (version 12c or higher) running on Linux and Windows Server environments
- Ability to monitor database performance and growth (scale) and create alerts when they go beyond control limits
- Understanding of all elements of the software development life cycle, including planning, development, requirements management, CM, quality assurance, and release management
Responsibilities
- Perform complex Oracle database related assignments essential to the production and development of DBMS applications
- Apply knowledge and experience with database technologies, development methodologies, and perform database programming (PL/SQL) and support
- Design and implement procedures necessary to save, retrieve, and recover databases from hardware and software failures
- Maintain security and integrity controls
- Evaluate and recommend database software packages for potential acquisition, and implement strategic goals for applications
- Prepare and develop database documentation, procedures, and definitions for data dictionaries
Other
- Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to pass CBP background investigation
- Applicable combination of education and experience: Database Developer T3 - College degree (B.S.) and 5 years of experience or Database Developer T4 - College degree (B.S.) and 7 years of experience
- Undergraduate degree required in math, computer science, engineering, or related discipline with an information technology focus (preferred)
- Must be available to work a hybrid schedule with an on-site requirement in Sterling, VA
