SPS Commerce is looking to solve the problem of administering databases along all aspects of the service lifecycle, including deployment, configuration, monitoring, and ongoing operations of relational and non-relational database services.
Requirements
- Experience interacting with databases and working knowledge of database structures and design
- Experience supporting Oracle, Postgres, or MySQL
- Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS), Azure, or other cloud computing services
- Experience with Python or other programming language outside of shell scripting
- Experience with software version control like git or SVN
- Basic systems engineering skills on Linux with experience running databases on Linux
- Experience with Terraform
Responsibilities
- Manage the deployment, configuration, monitoring, and ongoing operations of relational and non-relational database services
- Engage with Development teams and Operations peers to develop, scale and improve database systems and services
- Administer systems as assigned to provide appropriate documentation, capacity management, monitoring, and recommendations for future state
- Participate in a production support on-call rotation, completing incident and problem management tasks as assigned
- Develop and maintain backup and recovery procedures for database services
- Develop reports and other applications necessary to support database service operations
- Administer user and application access to database services
Other
- Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 2 years of related experience; or an advanced degree without experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to balance multiple projects and tasks concurrently in a fast-paced environment
- Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate (written and verbal) with persons at all levels of the organization
- Adherence to the highest quality standards
- Ability to think strategically, as well as curiosity to develop additional technical skills
