Meta Platforms, Inc. (Meta) needs to investigate complex cases of abuse on its platforms to understand how abuse occurs, identify responsible parties, and develop strategies to mitigate harm and prevent future threats to its API products.

Requirements

  • Threat investigations, law enforcement investigations or intelligence
  • Working on proactive investigations that did not originate from an automated alert
  • Conducting open source investigations or investigations on behalf of a technology company
  • Data misuse, APIs, privacy, 3rd party risk management, or mobile apps
  • Modern technical scaling and automation/AI tools including, but not limited to, large language models (LLMs)
  • SQL or other data analytics programming language
  • Using analysis tools similar to Maltego or Tableau

Responsibilities

  • Investigate complex cases using a variety of methodologies (on and off platform) to understand how abuse occurs and identify the person(s) responsible.
  • Identify enforcement strategies to mitigate harm in the current case and from similar abuse.
  • Document findings in high quality and concise investigative reports while managing sensitive or confidential data.
  • Conduct research to identify broader patterns of abuse and develop strategies to prevent and disrupt threats, at scale, that can impact our API products.
  • Manage, coordinate, and/or support projects to improve investigative or business processes as needed.

Other

  • This role may require on-call shifts outside of normal business hours (On-call shifts can extend weekly work hours by up to 10 hours).
  • Working with sensitive issues that include graphic violence, a variety of religious and political views, and adult content
  • Drafting analytical reports and documenting technical and non-technical evidence and findings
  • Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Criminal Justice, Computer Science, Intelligence Studies, Cyber Security, International Affairs, or related field and 5 years of experience in the progressive, post-baccalaureate work experience in the job offered or in a related occupation
