The Android Developer Relations team aims to drive Android ecosystem success by making it easier and more valuable for developers to build high-quality, responsible apps across devices. This involves creating guidance and working with Google product and engineering teams to build better products for developers, ultimately enabling amazing user experiences on the Android platform.

Requirements

  • Experience developing Android Applications.
  • Experience building user interfaces with Jetpack Compose.
  • Experience in Kotlin or Java programming languages.
  • Experience writing blogs, articles or interacting with developer communities.
  • Experience working with external partners, such as app developers, SDK developers or OEMs.
  • Experience in developer relations, technical consulting, professional services or program management.
  • Ability to take ownership of solutions and exert influence without authority.

Responsibilities

  • Understand how the community is using Compose and other Jetpack libraries and what bottlenecks are slowing down developers’ work, elevate these issues to appropriate stakeholders and drive resolution on them.
  • Collaborate with product and engineering teams to provide feedback on APIs/libraries, influence the product roadmap, and craft the most relevant narrative for how developers can maximize their return on investment when building for Android.
  • Work with developers and internal stakeholders to identify opportunities and land changes in tooling, libraries, and guidance that will boost productivity when building, debugging, testing, and releasing Android apps.
  • Create scalable developer resources (blog posts, sample code, codelabs), and opinionated guidance on how developers can more effectively leverage Jetpack libraries.
  • Capture compelling case studies of how development teams were able to maximize developer productivity to establish best practices.
  • Write sample code and client libraries.
  • Participate in developer forums and support queues to troubleshoot and debug coding problems developers encounter.

Other

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a similar technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of work experience in a technical role (e.g., software engineering, solutions consultant, etc.) or equivalent technical experience.
  • Ability to give speeches in a public forum.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Part community manager and part developer advocate
  • Not afraid to be hands-on
  • Advocate for developers interests internally at Google.
