Independence Pet Holdings is looking to build a digital-first pet e-commerce platform and needs a DevOps Manager / Technical Lead to guide their growing infrastructure and engineering operations, driving best practices, championing reliability, and scaling systems in Microsoft Azure.

Requirements

  • Strong hands-on expertise in Azure cloud services (AKS, App Services, Azure Functions, VNets, AAD, etc.).
  • Deep experience with CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or similar).
  • Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates).
  • Knowledge of containers & orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Familiarity with monitoring, logging, and observability tools (Azure Monitor, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK/EFK).
  • Strong scripting skills (PowerShell, Bash, or Python).
  • Exposure to security, compliance, and governance in Azure (identity, policies, RBAC).

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to DevOps engineers, while balancing people management responsibilities.
  • Remain actively involved in designing, implementing, and troubleshooting Azure infrastructure and automation.
  • Architect scalable, secure, and cost-efficient solutions in Azure (networking, compute, storage, databases, monitoring).
  • Build CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code (Terraform, Bicep, or ARM), and automation frameworks.
  • Drive observability, incident response, monitoring, and SRE practices to ensure system resilience.
  • Partner closely with software engineering teams to improve deployment workflows, release processes, and system reliability.
  • Define DevOps best practices and roadmap, helping align technical investments with business goals.

  • Proven experience as a DevOps Lead, Tech Lead, or Manager, ideally in a fast-paced engineering environment.
  • Experience balancing people management and technical leadership—mentoring engineers, running standups, performance feedback.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate across product, engineering, and operations teams.
  • 7 years relevant experience to include leadership
  • Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience, OR Associates degree in a technical field, OR certification in relevant focus area.
