SEM Haven is looking for a Homemaker to create a positive and pleasant environment in the home by assisting residents with daily life through housekeeping, meal service, and personal care, ensuring services align with federal, state, and local standards.

Requirements

  • Ability to implement and evaluate the effectiveness of dietary programs
  • Must be able to speak, read & write the English language in an understandable manner.
  • Must be able to see and hear or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to ensure that the requirements of position can be fully met.
  • State Tested Nurse Aide certificate or Feeding Assistant certificate preferred
  • Food safety training preferred

Responsibilities

  • cross-trained to perform housekeeping, meal service and personal care service to assist residents in daily life in the household
  • perform whatever tasks are necessary to maintain life on the household
  • assist with food preparation/serving
  • picking up clutter, removing trash, cleaning spills
  • transporting residents
  • attending household meetings/learning circles
  • fulfilling simple requests for residents

Other

  • works cooperatively and respectfully with residents, coworkers, families, visitors and volunteers to create a positive and pleasant environment in the home.
  • provide the residents of SEM Haven with the support, friendship, and most importantly, kindness, so they may live as independently as they wish to in their homes.

  • Sufficient education to demonstrate functional literacy.
  • Freedom from illegal use of drugs and freedom from use and effects of drugs and alcohol in the workplace is essential.
