Cesium is looking for a Director, Developer Relations to lead a technical team that supports partners, commercial customers, federal customers, first-party customers, and the open-source developer community. This role aims to foster growth and provide technical expertise to drive business development and community engagement.
Requirements
- Expert-level software development skills in one or more of the following: JavaScript/TypeScript, Unreal Engine, Node.js, and Kubernetes
- Proven experience with CesiumJS, Cesium ion, and/or Cesium plugins for Unreal Engine, Unity, or Omniverse is preferred
- Proven people manager success for small teams of individual contributor software developers
- Customer-facing experience in geospatial, AEC, aerospace & defense, and/or computer graphics is preferred
- Experience at a PE-backed mid-market technology company and/or late stage VC-backed technology company is preferred
Responsibilities
- Lead and facilitate the growth of a technical team supporting business development, partnerships, and the open-source developer community
- Provide hands-on pre-sales technical support and solutions architecture, and post-sales customer success using a variety of web, game engine, and cloud technology
- Engage customers and potential customers in person and virtually with an authentic approach that creates successful win-win business outcomes
- Create reusable demos, technical papers, talks, and code examples to win business and grow the community
- Support the open-source developer community via technical Q&A in the community forum, GitHub, and support channels
- Represent the customer’s technical perspective to influence our roadmap

- This role reports directly to the Chief Platform Officer.
- Requires sitting or standing at will while performing work on a computer (or any other physical requirements).
- The role requires communication with managers, peers, and other colleagues of the company by using Microsoft Teams chat, calling, and meeting functions
- Exceptional communication in writing and in person. Ability to communicate to a breadth of stakeholders, including executives, sales professionals, non-technical managers, developers, and open-source community members
