Fluence is looking to solve the business and technical problem of ensuring reliable system integration, optimized performance, and efficient field support for large-scale energy storage systems through strategic leadership and execution of technical activities related to commissioning and operation.
Requirements
- Deep understanding of energy storage control systems, SCADA integration, and commissioning processes.
- Proven experience with large-scale project deployment and field support operations.
- Experience with lithium-ion or flow battery systems, grid-tied inverters, and energy management systems.
- Familiarity with regulatory and interconnection standards (IEEE 1547, UL 9540A, etc.).
Responsibilities
- Oversee the development, validation, and deployment of energy storage control algorithms, supervisory software, and communication systems.
- Ensure seamless system commissioning through coordination of software, hardware, and field resources.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives in diagnostics, remote monitoring, and control platform reliability.
- Support post-commissioning troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and corrective action processes.
- Provide strategic direction and operational oversight for software, controls, and deployment engineering teams supporting energy storage commissioning and field operations.
- Develop and execute engineering processes and best practices that ensure consistent, high-quality system performance across projects.
- Partner with Product, Project Management, and Field Service leadership to align technical capabilities with business goals and customer needs.

- 5+ years in a leadership role managing multi-disciplinary engineering teams.
- Strong communication skills and a track record of cross-functional collaboration in a fast-paced, technical environment.

- Partner with Field Service teams to ensure efficient handoffs, rapid issue resolution, and high customer satisfaction.
- Ensure all engineering and field activities adhere to relevant safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
