Pattern is looking for a Director of Data Science to drive ecommerce insights, build scalable data solutions, and lead cross-functional efforts to optimize performance and support brand objectives by leveraging proprietary technology and AI to accelerate brands on global ecommerce marketplaces.

Requirements

  • 5–10+ years of hands-on experience in analytics or data science, including team leadership.
  • Demonstrated success in developing predictive models, experimentation strategies, and advanced analytics frameworks.
  • Deep knowledge of e-commerce metrics (conversion rates, basket size, user journeys, retention).
  • Experience with e-commerce platforms (Shopify, Magento, Salesforce Commerce Cloud) and web analytics (Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics).
  • Expertise with SQL and Python or R, plus familiarity with Spark or other distributed computing frameworks.
  • Strong data visualization skills with Tableau, Power BI, or similar platforms.
  • Experience designing automation workflows with Zapier, N8N, or similar tools.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of analysts and data scientists to build scalable, data-driven solutions.
  • Partner cross-functionally with teams across Pattern to design analytics strategies that align with e-commerce growth objectives.
  • Solve problems for ecommerce teams that include oversight on Advertising Analytics, Pricing Strategy, Promotion Strategy, Whitespace Analysis, and other bespoke problems that surface through the management of over 350 brands globally.
  • Encourage and actively use AI and Automation systems in developing data science backed solutions to ecommerce problems.
  • Develop and oversee predictive models of customer behavior, segmentation, and lifetime value.
  • Establish KPIs, design dashboards, and drive experimentation frameworks (A/B and multivariate testing).
  • Manage external and internal stakeholders with communication on research and results, aiding in moving the insights into actionable plans to change strategy and encourage adoption.

  • This is a full-time role based in Lehi, Utah with a hybrid schedule (three days in office, two days remote).
  • Excellent communication skills—able to simplify complex findings and influence decision-making at the executive level.
  • Experience in retail revenue strategy, pricing, or inventory optimization.
  • Project management and Agile/Scrum experience.
