Baker Construction is looking to solve the problem of ensuring high-quality construction projects, particularly in the nuclear power industry, by hiring a Director of Quality to oversee all quality and continuous improvement activities.
Requirements
- Knowledge of concrete construction practices (i.e., formwork, rebar, concrete placing, etc.) is preferred
- Quality related experience, preferably in the nuclear power industry (DOE/DOD facilities)
- Demonstrated skill and knowledge with applicable quality codes and standards and NRC regulations
- Knowledge and understanding of 10CFR50, App. B, ASME NQA-1 and ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, ISO Programs, etc.
- Knowledge of the general structure of quality programs, improvement processes, and improvement project management
- Experience reading and understanding design drawings
- Ability to communicate business processes and information technology requirements that are related to safety, quality, and productivity improvement initiatives
Responsibilities
- Working with Regional Quality Managers, leads continuous improvement efforts related to safety, quality, and productivity through management of the Opportunities for Improvement (OFI) Program
- Leads the conversion of OFIs to written procedures and practice documents, leveraging both lessons learned, and improvement ideas initiated by Baker Co-workers
- Leads the development of the Baker Best Practices SharePoint site
- Generates Monthly OFI Reports that quantify cost and savings related to reported OFIs
- Publishes a monthly newsletter related to continuous improvement
- Supports leadership in the identification of quality metrics and provides quarterly reports on the identified metrics, such as quality program performance, opportunities for improvement summaries, defect cost, etc.
- Provides trending summaries to leadership, recommends improvement strategies and initiatives designed to mitigate losses and leverage savings
Other
- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering, scientific, or construction-related discipline and at least 15 years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business documents, technical procedures, and government regulations
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedures
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
- Travel: Up to 15%
