LexisNexis Reed Tech is launching a new innovation team to explore and develop new product ideas, technologies, and experiences. The Director of Research & Software Engineering will lead the development of a regulated SaaS platform, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and driving innovation in cloud architecture, security, and software development.
Requirements
- Proven experience (7+ years) as a software engineer.
- Proven experience (7+ years) of software engineering leadership, managing diverse cross-functional teams.
- Strong architecture and coding skills across the stack (e.g., backend, frontend, cloud).
- Demonstrated ability to build and iterate on products quickly, ideally in a startup or innovation lab environment.
- Experience leading small, cross-functional teams.
- Experience with rapid prototyping and user testing.
- Familiarity with lean product development or design thinking.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the technical owner of MVPs and experimental products from concept through delivery.
- Design and implement scalable prototypes with a focus on velocity, quality, and flexibility.
- Lead and mentor a small team of engineers; establish best practices that encourage autonomy, innovation, and rapid iteration.
- Collaborate with the product manager to shape roadmaps, scope experiments, and make build-vs-buy decisions.
- Balance short-term delivery with long-term technical thinking.
- Evaluate and recommend new technologies, frameworks, and architectural patterns appropriate for early-stage development.
- Create an engineering culture that celebrates experimentation, fast learning, and user feedback.
