The Ohio State University's Research Development Office (RDO) is looking to grow and diversify its federally funded research portfolio. The Director will lead a team to craft and implement strategies to achieve this growth, focusing on federal agencies, funding mechanisms, and topical areas. This includes developing processes for large-scale proposals, managing limited competitions, and building university-wide research capacity.
Requirements
- Experience working on proposal development with a range of federal research sponsor agencies and programs.
- Demonstrated experience working with multidisciplinary, interdisciplinary, and/or convergence science teams on large-scale, national leadership level proposals.
- Familiarity with federal research data including NSF HERD Survey and USA Spending.
- Knowledge of defense and/or space-related federal research environment.
Responsibilities

- oversees the development and implementation of programming within the Research Development team’s assigned portfolios
- drives networking, outreach, and sponsor relationship management activities.

- supports university-wide awareness and capacity-building programming
- manages the university’s limited competition system
- spearheads on-going professional development for team members.

- Advanced degree.
- 10 years of relevant work experience.
- 15 or more years of relevant work experience, including a minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience with evidence of progressive responsibility, and a minimum of 5 years of experience working in a university research setting or in a position that required significant interaction with university researchers.

- The individual in this role will have an option for a hybrid work arrangement, typically working 3 days per week in-office, and 2 days per week remote. This position is not eligible for full remote work.
