The Director of Software Engineering will provide leadership over the Software Engineering department to support these strategic objectives.
Requirements
- Detailed knowledge of software development, integration, test and deployment practices and methodologies.
- Detailed, hands-on experience across the full product lifecycle from requirements, design, development, integration, test and deployment
- Understanding of simulation hardware and software architecture, components, and technology
- Experience with Systems Engineering, Hardware / Software Integration and product testing
- Eligible for a US DoD Security Clearance
- Ability to effectively manage technical teams
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously through proper delegation skills and selective personal involvement
Responsibilities
- leadership over the Software Engineering department in the Technology & Product (TPD) organization in support of CAE USA, D&S global and corporate strategic objectives.
- leadership capabilities for technical management of software engineering initiatives, including software/hardware integration, with detailed knowledge of software development, integration, test and deployment practices and methodologies.
- Accountable for ensuring the TPD Software Engineering team establishes staffing supply and maintains critical skills, and coordinates with Chief Engineers, R&D Principal Investigators, and other stakeholders to ensure workforce planning aligns with the business needs
- Detailed, hands-on experience across the full product lifecycle from requirements, design, development, integration, test and deployment
- Responsible for resource management within the TPD Software Engineering team, including training and career development
- Continuous improvement of department performance through processes improvement, tool identification and development, and other initiatives
- Oversight of execution in compliance with company policies and procedures, including timely completion of corporate training

- Previous experience in a functional leadership role and with proposals, bidding, EACs, and risk & opportunity management
- Must be a focused, driven, milestone-oriented leader with the demonstrated ability to direct teams, coordinate with other department leaders and ensure production of high-quality products with flawless execution
- Provide a highly engaged work environment for department leaders and team members
- Supervisory and performance responsibility for direct reports, and oversight of performance of secondary reports
- Active communication and status reporting of all above items with TPD leadership team
- Minimum 10 years of experience working on DoD programs, preferably in Military Simulation & Training
- Sufficient understanding of business concepts to effectively manage budget and schedule performance
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong motivation, leadership, and team building skills
- Excellent problem solving, situational assessment, and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to motivate and facilitate effective change
- Due to U.S. Government contract requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for this role.
- Must comply with all company security and data protection / usage policies and procedures.
- Incumbent must be eligible for DoD Personal Security Clearance.
- This is not a remote or hybrid position.
- Must be able to travel both domestic and internationally.
- Must be able to work overtime
