PayPal is looking to drive profitable growth of the Global PayPal Working Capital business by developing and implementing advanced data science strategies and optimizing credit risk management.
Requirements
- Minimum of 15 years of relevant work experience and a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 3 years management experience
- 10+ years of experience in credit risk management or a related quantitative discipline at either a fintech or a large bank
- 10+ years of experience leveraging large, complex data to drive business decisions.
- Comprehensive knowledge of credit risk trends, unit economics, and first party and third-party fraud risks.
- Experience with analytical or data management tools (e.g. SQL, R, Tableau, Python, Excel and PowerPoint)
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement the overall data science strategy, aligning with corporate goals and objectives.
- Lead the design and execution of advanced data science projects to support strategic decision-making.
- Oversee the development and maintenance of data infrastructure, ensuring scalability and efficiency.
- Drive innovation in data science practices and tools, staying ahead of industry trends.
- Utilizes unit economics models for all Working Capital credit products at PayPal, leveraging an NPV-based framework to optimize outcomes across the product lifecycle.
- Develops and maintains testing frameworks to ensure that sufficient data exists to optimize future decisions across the credit lifecycle.
- Maintains a robust monitoring and reporting framework to ensure that emerging trends are quickly detected and actioned upon, and to ensure that leadership is aware of portfolio performance.

- Collaborate with executive leadership to identify and prioritize data-driven opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with data privacy and security regulations.
- Partners with Business Unit, Data Science, Fraud, Second Line, Legal, Compliance, Marketing, Product, Engineering, Bank Partner, and other teams to optimize outcomes for PayPal and the merchants who use Working Capital products by influencing outcomes in marketing programs, the application funnel, data and infrastructure, and machine learning modeling.
- Fosters a culture of experimentation to optimize decisions based on clear objective (i.e. well-defined metric).
- Manages the portfolio within the return requirements and risk appetite of PayPal and our bank partners.
- Acts as the primary Credit Risk contact for the Working Capital product within PayPal.
- Develops and manages strong working relationships with internal and external partner teams.
