Discover is a personalized recommendation feed that provides users with relevant and meaningful information based on their interests. The Discover DS Personalization and Quality team needs to partner cross-functionally to solve the mission with a data-informed strategy, identifying opportunities and accelerating execution.

Responsibilities

  • Work with data sets and solve difficult, non-routine analysis problems, applying advanced analytical methods as needed.
  • Conduct end-to-end analysis that includes data gathering and requirements specification, processing, analysis, ongoing deliverables, and presentations.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of Google data structures and metrics, advocating for changes where needed for both product development and business strategy.
  • Define metrics and measurement techniques, assessing applicability and making recommendations on the use of these techniques and on the interpretation of results.
  • Interact cross-functionally with SWE, PM, and UXR partners.
  • Work closely with engineers to identify opportunities for design and assess improvements to our products.
  • Make business recommendations with effective presentations of findings at multiple levels of stakeholders through visual displays of quantitative information.

Other

  • Master's degree in Statistics, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Economics, Operations Research, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
  • 3 years of work experience using analytics to solve product or business problems, coding (e.g., Python, R, SQL), querying databases or statistical analysis, or a PhD degree.
  • Ability to clearly explain stats or domain knowledge to people not familiar with the subject matter or who lack a quantitative background.
  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally and work effectively within a distributed team.
  • Excellent communication skills.
