Disney Entertainment Media and Marketing team needs to execute highly data-driven marketing campaigns for theatrical, streaming, and brand campaigns. The Software Engineering Intern will contribute to innovative campaign planning tools, complex data science workflows, and elegant web applications that blend advertising with data-backed insights.
Requirements
- Experience with building applications or services using Python, Java, or similar
- Demonstrated ability to build any technical component in a larger system (e.g. microservice, API endpoint) as well as a deep understanding of the overall system architecture
- Exceptional hands-on experience and strong core engineering skills — whether through internships, personal projects, or academic work
- Familiarity with version control systems (e.g. Git, GitHub/GitLab) and standard software development lifecycle tools (e.g. CI/CD pipelines)
- Experience with Spark or SQL
- Understanding of cloud compute (AWS, GCM, etc) and modern dev ops practices; understanding of CI/CD automation
- Knowledge of ad platforms including DMPs, Google Ads, Facebook/Instagram, Innovid, LiveRamp and DSPs (Google DV360, Trade Desk, Verizon Media Group)
Responsibilities
- Write code, fix bugs, and contribute to the development of a suite of tools used by the Performance Marketing group to execute on theatrical, streaming, and brand campaigns
- Build and expand on backend services that automate and facilitate the execution of data-driven media campaigns on third party ad platforms
- Collaborate with the broader team of media/marketing experts to rapidly iterate from prototypes to high-quality, production pipelines
- Implement quality controls, monitoring, and other safeguards to ensure optimizations are accurately and safely applied to in-flight ad campaigns and key business metrics are always presented accurately
Other
- Junior or Senior year preferred
- Major or significant coursework in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or comparable field of study
- Be enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a degree taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program AND returning to school the semester/quarter following the internship OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship.
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Possess unrestricted work authorization
