The Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH) is seeking a Data Analyst to support provider compliance with regulatory requirements and improve child and family outcomes by collecting, managing, analyzing, and integrating data.
Requirements
- Demonstrated ability to collect, organize, analyze, and interpret complex data using statistical methods, query design, and business intelligence tools to support organizational decision-making.
- Skilled in preparing, presenting, and visualizing data clearly and accurately for varied audiences, including creating reports and dashboards tailored to stakeholder needs.
- Proficient in identifying data trends, providing actionable insights, and developing evidence-based recommendations while recognizing and explaining limitations or potential biases in analysis.
- Experienced in statistical report writing, business analytics, and project planning, with a working knowledge of laws, policies, and regulations that guide data use and reporting.
- Able to adapt quickly to new tools, technologies, and evolving best practices in the field of data analytics.
- Advanced knowledge of data analytics and visualization, with the ability to apply these skills to inform policy and practice.
- Independence in developing innovative solutions and interpreting policies, laws, and standards.
Responsibilities
- Complete standard reporting and operationalize the use of data in business decision-making.
- Develop and maintain technical elements of dashboards that share data for exploratory services, including mapping, downloading, and visualizing data.
- Use SQL, SAS, Excel, Power BI, Tableau, and other software to prepare concise, comprehensive technical reports that present and interpret data.
- Assist in defining, developing, and implementing data analytic standards.
- Plan, develop, and implement multiple data reporting structures.
- Develop and implement data storage systems, data collection systems, data analytics approaches, processes, and other strategies that optimize methodological efficiency and quality.
- Perform quality assurance and serve as a subject matter expert on data integrity, extraction, and compilation.

- Minimum Entrance Requirements: Applicants must have at least four years of full-time or equivalent part-time professional experience performing related duties that include business data recovery, analysis, query design, reporting and statistical analysis.
