Booz Allen is looking for a subject matter expert in numerical weather prediction and earth systems modeling to advise clients in decision-making processes related to high-performance computing and software development, and to translate stakeholder needs into actionable requirements.
Requirements
- 20+ years of experience running numerical weather models and large-scale weather-related computing projects
- Experience with the NOAA Unified Forecast System
- Experience analyzing meteorological datasets
- Knowledge of machine learning and applications of machine learning to weather systems modeling
- Ability to improve earth systems prediction using model-based approaches
Responsibilities
- Serve as a subject matter expert in numerical weather prediction and earth systems modeling.
- Leverage advanced expertise and advanced academic research skills in the field of earth science to advise clients in decision-making processes related to high-performance computing and software development.
- Apply leading-edge principles, theories, and concepts and contribute to the development of new principles and concepts.
- Translate stakeholders' needs into requirements and activities that advance stakeholders' initiatives.
- Serve as a contract lead, ensuring work activities are aligned with requirements and strategic direction, as well as meet business needs.
- Participate in weather-related working groups and cross-functional teams as a subject matter expert, as needed.
- Work on unusually complex problems and provide highly innovative solutions.
