The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) needs support for mission-critical healthcare IT platforms, specifically focusing on designing, developing, and implementing solutions for electronic data interchange (EDI) using Edifecs tools to ensure compliance with industry standards like HIPAA and HL7.

Requirements

  • Experience with Edifecs applications, including XEngine, SpecBuilder, Transaction Management (TM), and Edifecs Application Manager (EAM).
  • Solid understanding of EDI concepts and standards, including experience working with healthcare-related transaction sets such as 837, 835, and 270/271, as well as trading partner configuration and management.
  • Familiarity with Healthcare Data Standards and regulations such as HIPAA, HL7, and X12.
  • Proficiency in programming and scripting languages including Java, XML, and SQL, with the ability to develop and support data integration solutions.
  • Ability to interpret complex data, troubleshoot issues, and develop effective technical solutions in a challenging environment.
  • Experience supporting federal government or healthcare data platforms.
  • Understanding of health informatics systems or standards

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and implement integration solutions utilizing Edifecs tools such as XEngine, SpecBuilder, and Transaction Management (TM).
  • Ensure all Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) transactions comply with relevant healthcare regulations and standards, including HIPAA, HL7, and X12.
  • Perform data format conversions (e.g., XML to ANSI X12) and develop data maps to support efficient and accurate data exchange across systems.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues related to EDI transactions, data processing, and system integration to maintain optimal performance and data integrity.
  • Integrate Edifecs-based EDI solutions with various internal and external systems, databases, and applications to enable seamless and automated data exchange.
  • Monitor EDI transaction flows, ensure the reliability and accuracy of data exchange processes, and provide continuous system maintenance and support.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for integration workflows, system configurations, and data exchange processes.
