MSU-Northern is looking to enhance its online, ITV, blended, and face-to-face learning environments by providing dedicated technical and pedagogical support to faculty, staff, and students. This role aims to improve the quality of student learning experiences through the effective implementation of instructional design methods and technologies, ensuring compliance with accessibility standards and supporting the administration of the Canvas learning management system.
Requirements
- Learning management system experience (e.g., Canvas, Brightspace, Moodle, Blackboard, Google Classroom) as a student, instructor, help desk support, and/or system administrator;
- Demonstrated computer software skills (e.g., word processing, spreadsheet, presentation software, videoconferencing software, and/or emerging web technologies)
- Experience in instructional design for online, blended, or distance delivery;
- Experience with learning outcomes assessment and/or program assessment;
- Experience researching and implementing evidence-based pedagogy;
- Experience creating multimedia (e.g., video, audio) content for digital learning;
- Demonstrated ability to solve technical problems and work independently to troubleshoot process and system problems;
Responsibilities
- Support faculty use of evidence-based pedagogical methods and instructional technologies through training sessions, tutorials, and troubleshooting.
- Research, develop, and conduct additional faculty development training opportunities as needed.
- Assist with the administration of the Canvas learning management system and related systems provided by third party vendors.
- Provide technical support to both students and faculty for Canvas, MSU-Northern’s learning management system, and related instructional technologies.
- Conduct regular accessibility compliance research, including monitoring WCAG guideline updates and gathering Canvas accessibility metrics to ensure faculty adherence to accessibility standards.
- Promote high-quality student learning experiences across the university by actively monitoring current teaching and learning scholarship and guiding faculty in the implementation of evidence-based instructional design methods and technologies.
- Support faculty in the design of learning outcomes assessment plans at the course and program level.
Other
- Master’s degree in Instructional Technology, Curriculum and Instruction, Education, or a related field; or significant experience in instruction and assessment
- Professional experience as an instructor, teacher trainer, or professional development instructor;
- Experience working in higher education;
- Demonstrated excellent written and oral presentation skills;
- Proven customer service orientation and ability to deal effectively with individuals possessing a wide range of technical skills and from a variety of backgrounds;
